Iranian Firm Uses Steel Waste to Produce Iron Oxide Nanoparticle Pigments

Iron oxide pigments are widely used in various fields from the development and construction industries to cosmetic, rubber, plastic, and toner cartridges, as well as paint and coatings industries.

The nanoparticles can also be found in the biomedical sector as well as in the food industry for the fortification or iron supplementation of foods.

Nader Rostamizadeh, the managing director of Shina Kimiagaran Fanavar Company, said the company produces iron oxide micro- and nanoparticle pigments using the waste from steel industries.

The products are available in blue, yellow, dark purple, black, and red-brown colors, he added.

Rostamizadeh made the remarks on the sidelines of the national Asreh Omid Event which was held in late May in Tehran’s Grand Mosalla with the participation of 3,000 knowledge-based companies, laboratories, research teams, and startups.

According to the vice presidency for science and technology, some 270 companies are active in the nanotechnology field.

Currently, nanotech products are produced and marketed in more than 15 industrial fields based on domestic technologies and are being exported to 49 countries from five continents.
